Truck Driving: Loading/ Unloading Fuel and Defensive Driving
Synopsis:
Over the years, truck drivers are involved in one of the worst accidents on public roads and highways, because either they were too tired to drive, they did not plan for aggressive drivers, and did not take proper precautions while driving after sunset.
The other area where the truck drivers get involved in an accident, sometimes fatally, is during loading/ unloading flammable and/ or combustible chemicals.
This is a one-day course where truck drivers and managers/ supervisors will learn dangers of driving a truck with flammable/ combustible chemicals and how to avoid road hazards.
Objective:
Attendees will learn how to:
- Drive during day and precautions that they need to take during driving at night
- Plan their trip and avoid aggressive drivers
- Climb out of their truck cabin and avoid slips, trips and falls
- Couple and uncouple their load
- Unload/ Load fuel while taking all the safety precautions
Target Audience:
- Qualified truck drivers (inexperienced to very experienced)
- HSE Managers
- Fleet Managers/ Supervisors
- Department Managers/ Supervisors involved in managing trucks.
Prerequisite:
Attendee should have basic knowledge on how to drive a truck and possibly have a license to drive a truck, and/ or be responsible for the trucks.
Course Contents:
- Overview of the truck and its operation
- Hazards while driving in the day
- How to avoid and/ or plan for aggressive drivers
- Hazards while driving after sunset
- Coupling/ Uncoupling trailers
- Climb in and out of driver’s cabin
- Loading/ Unloading flammable/combustible chemicals

Class participation is required. Each session will have a maximum of 20 attendees.
